The idea
Chewing, played backwards. Each bite normally takes food further from what it once was. Meal Be Back runs that in reverse, so the meal in your mouth reassembles into the fish it came from.
How it works
01Surface EMG on the masseter detects each chew.
02A silicone cover held in the mouth inflates and deflates with the jaw, driven by a syringe pump. The intraoral part carries no electronics, only fluid pressure through a tube.
03A headset and headphones play the food and its chewing sound in reverse, in time with the jaw.
The experience
It is framed as a quiz. Pick the food you think came from the sea, chew, and watch what you were eating come back.
